Welcome to EYFS!
Our Early Years Department consists of a Little Explorers room for ages 2-3, a Nursery room for ages 3-4, and two Reception classes, each led by qualified Teachers/Early Years practitioner and supported by Teaching Assistants and apprentices.
Our NEW Little Explorers room for 2-3 year olds is a home from home environment, where each child is valued, provided with the highest quality care, and where every day is full of exciting opportunities and experiences to explore.

IThis half term, our Little Explorers will be enjoying all things Summer! Through exciting activities and stories, the children will learn about summer weather, seasonal clothes and foods, bees, holidays, outings and the World Cup. Through play and exploration, they will strengthen their curiosity, social skills and understanding of the world around them, while enjoying lots of outdoor learning and taking part in their very first Summer Fest celebration.
This half term, our Nursery children will embark on a Journeys adventure, exploring different types of transport and travel through stories such as Train Ride and Mr Gumpy. Drawing on their own experiences of trips and days out, the children will develop their communication and understanding of the world around them. We will continue to build early literacy skills through purposeful early writing and Firm Foundations phonics. As the year comes to an end, we will begin talking about the exciting move to Reception, enjoy the summer weather, and celebrate a wonderful year of learning together at our Summer Fest.
This half term, our Reception children will dive into Commotion in the Ocean, exploring life beneath the waves through stories, facts and hands-on learning about sea creatures, oceans, water safety and caring for our planet. We will continue developing our reading fluency and sentence-writing skills, while also preparing for the exciting transition to Year 1. We will finish the year by celebrating our wonderful EYFS journey together at our Summer Fest.

You can return the homework by the following Friday via Class dojo so we can see it. If you require paper copies of the homework, if appropriate, please just let us know. We would also encourage you to read at home with your child at least 3 times a week and practise their phonics sounds with them on a regular basis using the Supersonic Phonic friends Newsletter.
