Welcome to the Orchard!

Our vision for The Orchard classroom is to create an inclusive, nurturing, and dynamic learning environment where every child is empowered to connect, learn, and thrive. The Orchard is split into different groups: Apples, Pears, Plums and Peaches.

The Orchard Team also deliver specific provisions during the day to groups of pupils.

Pear, Plums and Peach Orchard

This provision takes place in the afternoons and is prepared and planned by subject leaders and the SENCO.

Pupils accessing the Pears, Plums and Peaches Orchard are focusing on developing their social and emotional learning through structured provisions such as 'Time to Talk', the SPRINT curriculum and the 'Talkabout' books as well as putting these skills into practice during 'Snack and Chat' and practical curriculum lessons. The aim is to support pupils to CONNECT, LEARN, THRIVE.

Pupils access their year group curriculum in a smaller group setting with a focus on applying metacognition and self-regulation strategies and becoming more independent learners. Pupils use active learning and practical lessons to support their learning needs.

The Apples Orchard

The Apples Orchard embraces a thematic curriculum. We aim to spark curiosity, creativity, and connection, weaving together subjects and skills in meaningful contexts that resonate with our learners. By integrating themes that reflect real-world experiences and interests, we seek to make learning engaging and purposeful, nurturing a lifelong love of discovery. Our classroom is a space where every child can flourish at their own pace, supported by dedicated staff, innovative teaching methods, and a community of care.

The Orchard Internal SEND Provision opened in September 2025. The Provision is integrated seamlessly within the existing infrastructure of the academy, providing a familiar school setting for students attending the Orchard. 

Our Texts This Half Term  

           

PE Days

Every day, pupils receive motorskills input for both their gross and fine skills. 

PE takes place on a Friday afternoon and children can come to school wearing their PE kit. This includes dark jogging bottoms or shorts, a dark blue or school PE top and trainers. They can also wear their PE hoodie for warmth.

During the PE session, we often access the forest school environment and children will need a change of clothes and wellies to enable them to access it if it is muddy. Children should also have an old waterproof coat which may get muddy as the weather starts to get cooler.

Homework

Reading books are sent home weekly as well as key letters and words.

Children will receive a weekly activity for you to explore together at home linked to their learning in the class.
